Room 14's Post on Wednesday, 5 July 2017
As part of our Matariki celebrations we used Scratch (coding), Makey makeys and play dough to code the music and create play dough circuits to play twinkle twinkle little star. Everyone showed a lot of perseverance to achieve this.

Author visit and pizza
We were so lucky to have Alexandra Tylee and Jenny Bornholdt visit us yesterday to read their new books to us and answer our questions.
I was really impressed with how Room 14 listened respectfully and asked really great questions. Some of the "If I was a..." writing and illustrations that room 14 and 15 had done were also read out by the authors and publisher. Then, of course, there was pizza from Pipi's pizza truck! Yum! They had to sing and dance for their pizza though...Hey Margarita!

Zealandia
Room 14 had a great trip to Zealandia last week. The sun shone for us and the birds came out to say hello! We saw a great variety of birds and learned a lot from our educators.
As a follow up, we did a piece of writing about Zealandia or the birds we saw illustrated with a picture of our favourite bird. What they wrote about was up to them i.e. a description, a narrative, a myth, a poem but most decided that the birds had escaped from Zealandia and did WANTED posters! They had a lot of fun with them and illustrated them beautifully using either paint, markers, pastel or coloured pencil. Check some of them out:
