Belonging
We did a role play activity to get us thinking about what it means to belong, how it feels when you don't and how it feels when you exclude someone from a group.
Flying competition
We did some learning around measuring distance. In small groups we researched different designs of paper planes and had to try lots of different designs out.
Once we had our final design chosen we decided on a team name and the flying competition began. We had two turns each and chose the one with the furthest distance. Hilary used tape with the team name on it to mark where it landed and then we had to measure.
Next we had to enter our data into a google sheet and see who had won!

Super sentences
We are learning how to make our sentences more exciting by using different sentence openers. Today we practiced using a verb to start our sentences. This was quite challenging but we all were successful. Here are some of our super sentences....
Measurement
To kick off our measurement learning we came up with some ways that we could measure our class to find out how tall we are. Some ideas were to stand on each others shoulders (we decided that one wouldn't work so well), to lie down head to foot in a big long line and measure the line and to measure everyone individually then add them together. We decided on trying out the last two ideas. First we measured each other and recorded our data in a google spreadsheet.
We then added it all together and even made a graph. Our combined height is 2929 cm or 29.29 m.

Then we all went down to the turf and lay in a big long line head to foot.
Hilary used the measuring wheel to measure us. We were all excited to see if we got the same result.
Yes! It said 29 metres. We are interested to find out how much we grow as a class so we will do this again at the end of the year!
